(ALL MINUTES ARE UNOFFICIAL UNTIL APPROVED AT THE NEXT REGULAR MEETING) May 1, 2024 The Brown County Commissioners met in special session on Tuesday, May 1, 2024, at 4:00 p.m., in the Brown County Courthouse Meeting Room with members Chairman Buddy Small and Jeremiah Dailey present. Member Dennis Bauer was absent with an excused absence. Also, present were Brown County Clerk (BCC) Travis Hobbs, Brown County Sheriff (BCS) Brent Deibler and Brown County Highway Superintendent (BCHS) Kenneth Turpin.

Ken and Kim Stenka Host Veterans in Their Home

For the past three years, Kim and Ken Stenka have housed six veterans with no place to go in their own home in Stuart out of the goodness of their hearts. Ken, who is the Holt County Veterans Service Officer, has helped homeless veterans and veterans in need for a long time.

Guests at North-Central Nebraska State Parks will Enjoy Many Improvements

Plenty of improvements in Nebraska’s north-central state parks await visitors this year. Projects completed in 2023 or to be finished in 2024 will appeal to an array of park users. The following is a roundup of those improvements and projects: Sherman Reservoir State Recreation Area

WIC Implements Texting

The Women, Infants and Children Program administered at Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership will be implementing a texting feature for participants in the very near future. The implementation date for Central Nebraska Community Action Partnership is May 13, 2024.

North Central Nebraska Bridgehead Inc. to Help Veterans

Bridgehead, a new non-profit organization with the intent to provide Northeast Nebraska veterans with a safe place to gain a foothold, is set to come to the area sometime very soon. The new nonprofit was incorporated in hopes to fill in the gap for veterans transitioning to and from rehabilitation, or just needing a place to restore.
